Ria Formosa is one of the major flyways of migratory birds and is classified as an IBA (Important Bird Area) which makes it a perfect area for the practice of birdwatching.
The boat tours, during low tide, are excellent for watching waders. They also include one or more small strolls around the islands and areas of low tide, with the use of a telescope.
Only at low tide, binoculars telescope and guides available. Expert level tour. Post-breeding migration takes place roughly from August to November.
